Certification

The IAQ industry has been overwhelmed by new certification programs in the last decade. IESO primarily recognizes those certification bodies that have been independently accredited by a third-party accreditation agency.

The American Indoor Air Quality Council is accredited by the Council for Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB). The American IAQ Council offers certification under several categories for IAQ consultants, microbial investigators, mold remediators, IAQ managers and other IAQ specialties. AMIAQ is an IESO partner organization.

Other third-party accredited organizations that include indoor environmental professionals include the American Board of Industrial Hygiene and the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.

When seeking an IAQ consultant or contractor, look for those who have been awarded American IAQ Council, AIHA and/or BCSP certification credentials.
